adidas’ Bold CrazyLight Makes History
At 4.7 ounces it is the lightest soccer cleat ever produced! And it should come as no surprise that the adizero F50 crazylight is the brainchild of adidas and that it is part of the buzz leading up to the World Cup.
The German-based brand obviously wanted to make a statement with the new cleat. The black-and-green arrow design gives the perception of forward motion and is complimented with orange accents that immediately makes the cleat stand out and will have every player with an opinion on the cleat.
But looks only are skin deep and this cleat is much more. The game changers for crazylight are the new lightweight skin of the upper, a new SpeedTraxion stud configuration, and the SprintFrame to provide balance and performance. The end product is 20% lighter than previous models of the F50.
Gareth Bale will be the face of this ground-breaking cleat. The Wales and Real Madrid forward will debut the cleat on-field in Real’s Champions League second leg tie against Schalke 04 at the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday.
“I’ve tried them out already in training and they feel great,” said Bale. “I can’t wait to wear them on field. Lightweight boots definitely give me an advantage over the competition and I feel faster and more agile the lighter the boots become. Hopefully I can score a few goals in them over the next few weeks.”
