Jersey Spotting – May 2014 Edition

Before we get too caught up in the World Cup this summer, Soccer365 thought it was a great time to look at some of the club jerseys for the 2014/15 campaign that were debuted in final games of the current campaign.

Bayern Munich's 2014/15 jerseyWhen it comes to showcasing next season kits before the current one starts, the German Bundesliga is the best at it. The most prominent example of this was Champions Bayern Munich, who wore their new blue-red-white home kit as they lifted the trophy in the last fixture of the season.

Cologne 2014/15 home jerseyThe other Champion, of the Bundesliga 2, also showcased their new kits as they lifted the trophy as well. Here you can also see FC Koln wearing their cool new home kit by Erima as they celebrate the return to the German top flight.

These included Werder Bremen, wearing a classy all-green HeimTrikot from Nike with a white polo collar, a simple style also seen for Hertha Berlin’s new home kit.

ac milan 2014/15 third jerseyMeanwhile, Serie A saw a couple interesting spottings thanks to both the Milan teams. AC Milan’s third kit was debuted in a disappointing loss against Atalanta, but adidas hopes these new kits will have a much better run for the 2014/2015 Serie A season.

inter-cs-may14Meanwhile, rivals Internazionale said goodbye to team icon Javier Zanetti after 20 years with two gestures. First, all players wore the Argentinean’s classic #4 and the message “Grazie”(Thank you) during warm up, while Zanetti himself wore a jersey that included the message “4 Ever”, a nice way to thank the great captain’s commitment to the Nerazzurri and celebrate his legacy.

wolves-cs-may14In England, it was a big day for Wolves, who debuted their new Puma Home Kit as they celebrated their return to return to the Championship next season.

newcastle 2014/15 away soccer jerseyIn the Premier League, Newcastle wear their away kit as they were defeated by Liverpool, who fell short of their title hopes after some late season fumbles.

liverpool-js-14A few days later, the Reds played a friendly game against Bohemians FC in their brand new Warrior away kit.

sevilla-js-may-14Speaking of Warrior, the American brand celebrated their first ever title thanks to Sevilla FC. The Spaniards defeated Benfica on penalties to win the Europa League, and for the occasion they wore a special-edition all-white home kit that will now be part of the Nervionense’s history alongside the Joma shirts they wore as they lifted the UEFA Cup in 2006 and 2007.

While not necessarily new shirts, we would now like to focus in South America, where the Copa Libertadores is reaching the crucial stages. Four teams have made it to the semifinals, and all four of them are looking to secure their first ever Libertadores title, being some of the underdogs going into the 2014 edition of the prestigious South American club championship. Here you can see the kits of Nacional de Paraguay (Kappa), Argentina’s San Lorenzo (Lotto), Bolivian giants Bolivar (Marathon) and Uruguayan team Defensor Sporting (Mass).
