blackout_ctr_topSaying goodbye is always difficult and to help ease the pain Nike is releasing a final colorway for the CTR360.  The control cleat silo will be replaced by the new Nike Magista later this month.

Nike is going ‘lights out’ with this release.  The limited edition cleat will see only 2,500 pairs made and will be individually numbered on the heel of the cleat.

blackout_ctr_3“When we wear-test samples of a new boot we use all-black versions and the players react really well to the secrecy element of that color,” Denis Dekovic, Design Director for Nike Football, said at the unveiling. “We’ve loved that insight; it looks cool and fits the creative direction. It’s also great that the color we first sampled the boot in is the same with which we say goodbye.”

The cleat has a long list of admirers including Andres Iniesta, Javier Mascherano, Sergio Busquets, Landon Donovan, Michael Bradley, Thiago Silva, and Paulinho to name a few.

With great players like these it is hard impossible not to have great moments…

iniesta_wc_goalIniesta knocked home the 2010 World Cup final game winner in the cleat and in the process gave Spain their first world title as saved fans from having to see another World Cup decided by penalties.
