Macron is not familiar to many soccer fans in the United States but the Italian apparel company has a solid stable of teams they sponsor. They recently unveiled the home jerseys for AZ Alkmaar, Real Betis, Bologna FC, and Hajduk Split.
AZ is probably the best known of these clubs. The Eredivisie side is the current team of U.S. international Aaron Johannson and was the springboard for Jozy Altidore’s move to the Premier League last season.
The 2014/15 AZ home jersey is the classic red with white sleeves. The sleeves include a wide red cuff as well as a v-notch on the outside edge of the cuff. The white collar has a modern look that combines elements of a standard v-neck collar and kiwi collar.
Bologna F.C. was relegated to Serie B after the 2013/14 campaign and will look to make an immediate return to Italy’s top flight in this new home jersey. The dark red and navy blue vertical stripped jersey has some interesting features.
The jersey has 1 navy blue and 1 dark red sleeve unlike most vertical stripped jerseys where both sleeves are the same color. Each sleeve has a cuff detail in the other color. The stand-up polo collar is navy blue with a red trim. The wide navy blue waistline with red details on the side seams create a finished look.
After a 3-year run in La Liga, Real Betis was relegated back to the Spanish Segunda Division last season. The side are staying true to their green-and-white striped look on their home jersey. The green v-neck collar is given some sophistication with white trim on the bottom portion of the v-neck.
The sleeve cuffs are green but include a white a green horizontal insert on the outer edge. The waistline is solid green with a white detail on the side seam.
And from Croatia, Hajduk Split will be wearing a new jersey for the 2014/15 campaign after finishing in 3rd place in the PRVA HNL last season. The white jersey has a white v-neck collar with blue inserts on each side of the neck. The back of the collar returns to white and has a red/blue stripe at the center of the neck. ‘hajduk’ is written under the back of the collar.
Blue is used as a detail on the top of the shoulder and the sleeve has 5 blue pinstripes on the cuff. This element is continued on side panels of the waist.
