Lionel Messi will have a new look when he steps on the field for Barcelona’s 2014/15 La Liga campaign. adidas unveiled a new Solar Gold/Black colorway of Messi’s signature cleat adiZero last week.
Despite the bright gold look, these cleats are a more reserved than the multi-colored looks of recent colorways and in a way more subtle than the inaugural red cleat.
Gold and black is a classic color combination. The cleat is given some texture and depth with words is a lighter shade of gold describing Messi’s play over the entire upper. ‘Mas Que Un Botin’ (more than a boot) is written on the insoles.
The cleats will not slow down the 2014 FIFA World Cup Golden Ball winner as they weigh-in at an incredible light 5.3 ounces.
They incorporate Dribbletex technology, a raised texture that improves ball control and grip, and a Hybridtouch upper for a comfortable, lightweight fit. The Speedtraxion technology on the sole of the cleat aligns the studs to achieve maximum acceleration and allow for sharp movement.
The high-scoring forward will wear the new cleats during the La Liga campaign while rumors point toward another yet-to-be-released colorway for Barcelona’s Champions League campaign.
These boots are designed for speed, control and precision – all attributes closely associated with Messi.
