adidas is gearing up for the World Cup in Brazil and while the home soccer jerseys of the qualified national teams is stealing the show, the 3-stripes is highlighting some of the away jerseys that will be seen on the field this summer.

GetinGame_OrGoAwayArgentina will be playing to end a 2 decade trophy drought when the World Cup kicks off.    The last crown came with the 1996 Copa America title and it was in 1986 when they last won a World Cup.  Lionel Messi has finally started to show his promise for the Albiceleste.  The Barcelona forward played in 14 of the 16 qualifiers and knocked home 10 goals in the process.  With the World Cup in South America, Argentina should be feeling good about their chances and no doubt would love to spoil the party for the hosts and carry the FIFA World Cup trophy back to Argentina.

Germany are always contenders to win the World Cup and after finishing in 3rd place in 2006 and 2010 will no doubt think it is their time. Die Mannschaft have one of the most experienced and most talented teams since the 1970’s.  The side features players like captain Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Mueller, Mesut Ozil, Manuel Neuer, Marco Reus, Toni Kroos and the list goes on and on.

Fabio Capello helped turn Russia around on the way to qualifying for their 1st World Cup since 2002.  They did it in style finishing on top of Group F ahead of Portugal but with some nervy moments.  Capello made bit change when he took over, the most notable was in dropping Andrei Arshavin and Roman Pavlyuchenko but has said he is ‘open to all players’ for his final World Cup roster.

Spain is king of the hill and have the talent to stay on top.  La Furia Roja won the 2010 World Cup and are the 2-time defending European Cup champions.  Surprisingly, the long run of dominance does not mean this year’s team will be a ‘veteran’ squad playing on their last legs.  Head coach Vincente Del Bosque has done a wonderful job of bringing in young talent to compliment the veterans.  This team has a great chance to become the first team since Brazil in in 1962 to defend their World Cup title.
