Top 5 Jersey Launches – March 2014 Edition

Among all of the national team kit launches during the month of March we saw a several club strip releases from Europe and South America. Here are our favorites from what was the last month before the big European clubs start dropping their new threads (starting with the unveiling of the Chelsea FC adidas 2014/15 home shirt on 4/4/14).
Santos FC Anti-Racism Nike Home Kit
After Brazilian international midfielder Arouca was racially abused by fans of Mogi Mirim during a Campeonato Paulista (Sao Paulo State Championship) meeting, storied side Santos FC responded with a bold statement of its anti-racism stance via its Nike home kit.
The club that produced Pele, Robinho and Neymar replaced their sponsor logo with the text “Sou Alvinegro com muito orgulho” (“I’m very proud to be Black and White”) for its next match in support of tolerance and diversity. Santos’ nickname is “Alvinegro”.
FC Dallas 2014 adidas Home Kit
Known for their red and white hooped jerseys since changing their name from Dallas Burn in 2005, FC Dallas’ 2014 home jersey is all red for the first time. However, adidas’ designers cleverly maintained the FCD hoops by using a tonal design with two shades of red. Not only does this look brilliant but this is the only 2014/15 adidas shirt that we know of with this effect.
Since adopting the “Red for 90” look, FC Dallas have gone undefeated in their four MLS matches to date this season.
Stoke City 2014/15 Warrior Home Kit
Michigan-based Warrior has become a big player on the soccer scene over the past three years with several high-profile boot launches and the signing of clubs such as Liverpool and Sevilla. Stoke City recently became Warrior’s second Barclays Premier League team and have wasted no time in unveiling their 2014/15 kits.
The Potters’ new home shirt makes our list thanks to its eye-catching modern design that is brand new from Warrior. Featuring a subtle, split collar with an insert, it is miles ahead of some of the rather bland shirts that we’ve seen Stoke in over the past few years.
Atlético Paranaense 2014 Umbro 90th Anniversary Jersey
Umbro is back on the footie world in a big way having announced kit deals with Everton FC, Nantes and RC Lens.
The Manchester-based company has retained a strong presence in Brazil and is now helping to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of 2013 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A third place finishers Clube Atlético Paranaense with the release of a commemorative jersey.
The CAP 90th Anniversary shirt is classic in every way from the use of a traditional poloesque football kit collar to the smart incorporation of Atlético Paranaense’s home stripes via the use of two tones of burgundy. This is definitely worth picking up if you are in Brazil for the World Cup this summer!
AIK 2014 adidas Home Kit
Eight-time Swedish champions AIK return to the pitch in 2014 with a clean, classic kit in their customary black with yellow accents. A prominent polo collar highlights the new jersey. adidas has thrown in some of its current design elements such as the upper back arc used on all of its new shirts to complete the kit.
